Abstract
The IEEE Education Society aims to satisfy the academic career needs of its membership offering new opportunities with the development of web-based educational resources. Its current Strategic Plan contains a goal consisting on aiming 'to be a relevant source for information and resources for the engineering educator and support the educational needs of faculty members and academic departments' through the 'promotion of Open Educational Resources (OER)'. Aligned with this direction several actions have been started. One of them was the publication of an IEEE MOOC in IEEEx, entitled 'Foundations of Open Education and OER repositories' and delivered free in two editions along 2017. This paper aims to establish guidelines to follow in the process of reviewing and updating the IEEE MOOC performing an exploratory study with other searched and selected MOOCs on the topics of Open Education and Open Educational Resources (OER). The main findings of the MOOC corpus analysis have allowed identifying different actions aimed at improving and revising the course as well as better dissemination to its membership.
