Abstract

Examines concerns surrounding the UK's arms export regime relating to conventional weapons. Discusses the findings of the Scott Report of 1996, focusing on the recommendation that the legislative structure with regard to export controls on arms should be replaced. Considers issues of law and policy including as regards substantive criteria and salient legislation, and the decision-making and reporting process. Outlines the practical implementation of the relevant law and policy including matters of compliance and licensing concerns.
