Abstract
This is an invited presentation to the International Design for Social Innovation and Sustainability (DESIS) community as part of their DESIS Café series of events / ideas-exchanges.
The presentation was live-streamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdcPclB5Jkk and can be found between minutes: [11.10 and 17.25].
The focus was to share work-in-progress on the co-design process with Tiny Lives Trust and Newcastle Neonatal Service.
Early Learning for a design audience was presented as follows:
*Do all you can, to keep service- users’ voices evident in the project.
*Act through the in-hospital phase, to drive positive experiences of transition to home.
*Geographical power - don't underestimate the impact of geography on the ability for families to engage with hospital-based care services (in general) and particularly where a poorly infant/child is involved. This drives health inequalities which can then be exacerbated by socio-economic factors.
