Two Overdrawings: Tracing Aldo Rossi

This Notecard presents two drawings from my Overdrawing series, developed through close-drawing. I use this method to transpose literary close-reading into the spatial and material practice of architectural drawing. I use pencil on layout paper, elements are traced from Aldo Rossi's "Aldo Rossi in America catalogue" (1979) onto single sheets. Overdrawing No. 1 (Background Types) draws attention to incidental line work and "background typologies" ; Overdrawing No. 2 (Foreground Types) multiplies frontal elements until the object dissolves into fabric. The paired inversions demonstrate overdrawing as accumulation and erasure developing my interest in negation as a generative act, with consequences for typological and analogical design method.
