Abstract
The use of space resources is a highly relevant topic both from the perspective of the implementation and development of space law as well as for its impact on international relations. Such a relevance is demonstrated by the number of domestic and international initiatives that have been undertaken in recent years on the subject of space resources governance. The purpose of the present chapter is to analyze the legal issues related to the utilization of space resources, critically review the different approaches taken by States, and to suggest some mechanisms to facilitate progress in the international discussions on the setting up of a framework regulating space mining activities.
