Vanuatu lies in the oft-cited 'Arc of instability' which marks Melanesian nations and causes near neighbours Australia some concern. This contribution to a collection which draws on papers from the Australian Property Law Conference 2009, critically considers aid intervention in land matters and the potential for land-related unrest.
