Abstract

Catalogue of the exhibition Visibility Good held at Gallery North, Northumbria University from 26th March 2010 to 7th May 2012. Visibility Good provided an excellent opportunity for the artworks produced by Kim L Pace, Jason Minsky and William Cobbing whilst on the Berwick Gymnasium Fellowship Programme, to be shown together in a group exhibition at Gallery North and brings their work to a new audience in an urban environment. Kim L Pace, Jason Minsky and William Cobbing were selected for the 2008/9 Berwick Gymnasium Fellowships having demonstrated a consistent commitment to their art practice and producing high quality imaginative artwork. In responding to the extraordinary border town of Berwick upon Tweed and its coastal location, the work they produced was exhibited as part of the Gymnasium Gallery’s Exhibition Programme in 2009. These artists have very different and distinct styles and they each responded to this challenge with serious commitment, in-depth research and imagination. They drew their inspiration from where the land meets the sea. Minsky and Cobbing drew further inspiration from the town’s border history. They all produced work which was a response to isolation, revealing something of the frailty of mankind.
