Voices and Praxis From Students: From Doing Feminist Geographies in the Global South to Intersectional Feminism in the Global North

In an attempt to de-centre Western approaches to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ), the three of us come together to share our experiences of fostering DEIJ as feminist geographers in different geographical locations. Our chapter reconceptualises DEIJ through ‘glocal’ narratives and a fluid intersectional approach to identities (Mollette and Faria, 2013, Rodo ́-de-Zarate, 2014, Silva and Ornat, 2015). ‘Glocal’ refers to utilizing our individual local contexts as three feminist geographers to talk globally on DEIJ through multiple institutions in India, the UK, and the US. Further, we present our buddy interview-style conversation which elucidates how we conceptualise DEIJ from our ‘glocal’ perspectives against the backdrop of transnational feminism. We draw from our experiences of embodying mixed ‘in-between’ identities and engaging in DEIJ practises as students in the Global South and Global North. We opine that ‘glocal’ understandings of DEIJ disrupt parochial definitions of institutional DEIJ and de-centres westernized approaches to equity.
