Abstract

This chapter focuses on nanofinishing techniques used in textile finishing, with an emphasis on water and oil repellency. Nanofinishing offers a promising approach to enhance textile performance by applying nanoscale materials and coatings. Incorporating nanoparticles and nanomaterials onto textile surfaces imparts desirable properties such as water and oil repellency, enhancing functionality and durability. Various methods, including in situ coating and hydrophobic treatments, have been employed to achieve nanofinishing effects. Additionally, this chapter discusses different models associated with repellent finishes and provides an overview of the key advancements and challenges in nanofinishing for water and oil repellency in textiles, highlighting current developments in the field.
