Abstract

The paper describes the development of CADET, a stand alone Computer Aided Design Evaluation Tool (P.A. Rodgers and A.P. Huxor, 1996), into an Internet based implementation (WebCADET). The original CADET was used as a decision support system for evaluating conceptual designs of various classes of consumer products. CADET was implemented using a commercial expert system shell (Flex) and was deployed as a stand alone system, validating the models underpinning the design evaluation methodology.
