Abstract
DELIVERING THE RIGHT STAFF at the right time and with the right skills is becoming increasingly difficult in the current climate due to staff shortages. The cardiothoracic division of The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, has been innovative in its approach to this national problem. It plans to recruit unregistered healthcare workers from in and outside the division and South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust, to which The James Cook University Hospital belongs, to become a new kind of healthcare worker.
