Abstract

This exhibition draws together eight artists using and abusing the recognised practices in painting. There will be an Artist Symposium at Gallery North on Thursday 31 March 2011. These are a mutinous crew self aware and capable of double-dealing. They swerve back and forth between organisation and impulse. Many of the artists included are reclaiming systems of production only to throw the viewer off course by introducing the problematic. These works appear to want to defy categorisation. They puncture the established with the spontaneous and the objective with the subjective.
