Abstract

Alkali-activated materials (AAMs) are normally synthesised from alkaline activation of Si, Al and Ca abundant precursors including metakaolin, fly ash, slag and so on. In recent years, progressive attention has been given to study the physicochemical properties of AAMs. This chapter discusses studies on the synthesis of zeolites in AAMs and the physicochemical changes of AAMs induced by these zeolites. Moreover, applications of AAMs (such as immobilization, adsorption, and pervaporation) containing certain zeolites are also discussed.
