Paul’s research seeks to understand and explain policy processes by drawing on theories, ideas, and methods from political science, policy studies, public administration, sociology, network science, and discourse analysis. Paul’s research is largely conducted in collaboration with his global academic partners in the Comparing Climate Change Policy Networks project - an international and cross-national comparative research project that is investigating the causes of the variation in societal and governmental responses to climate change. Paul has also applied network methods to understand the structure and dynamics of tree plantation politics in South Africa.
